San Diego visit

99 is my new favorite card game! I had doubts that I would ever have a favorite card game but this was a real kick.
I loved our overnight in San Diego visit. What a fantastic home. It is so nice to reconnect with my cousin. We had a catbird seat for the balloon parade.
Now to completely change the subject, they are talking about pet peeves at the movies. I have concluded that the plague of commericials at theaters may drive me away from them completely. If I am at home I can at least use the MUTE button when the commercials come on. In the theaters the volume of the commercial are always louder than the feature and I feel like a desperate captive. There must be a better way to encourage movie attendance.

San Diego here we come

Off to San Diego to see my cuz'.
I don't have a specific plan.
Now I am perusing guidebooks to come up with ideas for things to see.
As I look at the list of museums I can't remember being inside any of them!
That doesn't mean I haven't been, it just means my memory aint what it used to be.
It's time to look on-line.
Gotta bring my computer to show off our pictures too.

North Country

I just saw North Country. It was easy to hear the sexist language of miners as typical of men I have known.
What was especially troubling was that this happened in the place where I come from. I feel outraged that people could have been completely sincere in 1990 when they said 'women don't belong in mining, they are taking jobs away from men.

more pix of near and dear

In New Guinea markets people actually asked to be photographed. This was Mt Hagen, among the chickens. It's a good thing we weren't worried about bird flu at the time.

He hasn't been a "little" boy for a long time, but he is still my boy. Doesn't he look great? It was a wonderful wedding.

Our New Guinea trip was the most exotic a place I have ever been. What an amazing country!

They are a beautiful couple. It is still hard to realize that my baby girl is now older than I was when she was born!

a few pix of my nearest and dearest

In July, I visited the offices of Dewey, Cheetham and Howe at Car Talk Plaza. They even gave me ice cream. My fraternity housemates were very happy about that.

Function Words: She who so shall, so shall she who

Here it is Christmas day 2005!
Merry Christmas all.
Since nobody is aware of the presence of my blog this greeting will go unanswered.
I love my yellow sweater with ruffles (!) and I am delighted with the New Yorker CDs.

Interesting fact of the day

My very first post!
It has been claimed that negation is unique to human language. A dog can say "woof" but it can't say "not woof"
